Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
