The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often marked by bleakness, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about observing this charming family navigate their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to enjoy the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
