Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
